New York State Public Librarians Certification

Approved by the Board of Regents on September 15, 1950, and most recently amended January 8, 1993, the Commissioner of Education defines the requirements for certification of librarians for public, free association, and Indian libraries under Commissioner's Regulation § 90.7.

Certification Requirements

Who is required to be certified?

All permanent, part-time or full-time positions, providing public library information services in New York State as determined by local library policy.
