Beginning 6/25/2021, no pre-registration is needed to visit the 7th Floor Research Library.
All visits to the 11th Floor Manuscripts and Special Collections must be scheduled in advance.
Open Monday through Friday, 9:30 am–5 pm.
Closed Saturdays, Sundays, and all state-observed holidays.
Prepare in Advance to Make the Best Use of Your Time On-site
We encourage visitors to make some preparations in advance to maximize their time on-site.
Talk to a reference librarian about the kinds of materials the Library has that may be relevant to your research.
Request that materials be retrieved in advance and put on reserve so that they are ready for you upon your arrival.
Contact our reference unit at 518-474-5355 or by e-mail at email@example.com have items pulled.
If you have a list of items to be reserved, e-mail it to circulation at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Updates and Changes to Services
A limited number of public access computers, microfilm readers, and scanners/book scanners will be available.
Volunteers from the Capital District Genealogy Society will be available to assist with genealogy research.

The NYS Library will...

Book Pick Up and Book Return
Request Materials for Pickup
Researchers may submit a request for pick-up by contacting Reference Services at 518-474-5355 or email@example.com.
For email requests, include your name, phone number, email address, NYS Library borrower card number, and if the item is for on-site pickup or curbside pickup.
On-site pickups will be available to pickup at the Circulation Desk on the 7th floor.
Curbside pickups will be checked out to your account and a Circulation Unit staff member will contact you to make arrangements for curbside pickup.
Return Borrowed Materials
Send items using US Registered mail or UPS.
NYS Government employees may return items using NYS Interagency mail.
Book returns are located on the 1st floor of the Cultural Education Center or at the Circulation Desk on the 7th floor.
