Regents Advisory Council on Libraries Convening:
The Role of School Librarians in Remote and Hybrid Instruction

Program Description

Under normal circumstances, school libraries staffed by certified school librarians are essential. In the current remote learning environment, they are indispensable. With the sudden shift to online learning and the associated needs and challenges, school librarians have adjusted their practices to continue to serve students, teachers, and families in innovative ways.

On November 18, 2020, the Regents Advisory Council on Libraries held a convening of the school library community. This program highlighted some of the exemplary work that New York State school librarians, and the systems supporting them, have engaged in since COVID-19 related school closures in March.

Areas of focus included:

  • Shifts in Practice
  • Digital Equity
  • Family Support and Engagement
  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • Information Literacy
  • Collaboration

This event was organized in partnership with the School Library Systems Association external link.
