Help Wanted; Employment/Job Information Links in Public Library Systems
NOTE: Looking for information about family finances or consumer protection? Your public library
can help you locate information and referrals.
The New York State Library partnered with public television stations WMHT and WCNY for Help Wanted, a grant-funded series of television programs that addressed the current economic crisis and its effects on New York families and individuals. Help Wantedfocused on the stories, needs, issues, and solutions for specific job seekers. It also explored resources for workforce development including re-training for a new career, consumer protection and family finances. The series aired statewide on New York's nine public television stations. All 27 episodes are available for viewing on the WMHT site. |

As a partner in the project, the New York State Library is linking viewers of Help Wanted to the State Library's web site. Users can use the links on this page to locate their public library and to identify a library that offers job, education and career resources and assistance. These are often available both in the library and online. Public libraries across New York are helping job seekers with individual goals, computers, Internet access, resume and interview workshops, online and print/media resources, current education and training information and referrals to the New York State Department of Labor and other community resources. |
