A&E Classroom
A&E Classroom is a commercial-free hour of programming created for educators that is broadcast Monday through Friday.   These programs are produced for use in the classroom and cover topics ranging from World War II to the biography of John Adams.   The site provides various educational tools to go along with the A&E programming including teachers' guides and activities as well as program descriptions and classroom tips for using A&E resources.   A biography section includes activities, teachers' guides, featured web sites, and more.

Blue Web'N
A searchable database of Internet learning sites, Blue Web’N’s content is categorized by subject area, audience, and type.   The resources are rated according to quality and include in-depth reviews by educators.   The index is searchable by keyword, subject, grade level, and type of resource; a “content table” provides an overview of the type of resources available in specific subject areas. Five to ten new sites are added monthly and users can sign up to receive updates about new tools, lesson plans, references, tutorials, projects, and more.

Community Learning Network
The Community Learning Network is designed to assist K-12 teachers to integrate technology into the classroom. CLN contains annotated links to educational sites containing instructional aids and curriculum related sources organized by theme and searchable by keyword.   A resource scrapbook allows users to search for instructional technology sites and resources, and a kid’s section provides access to activities, software, stories, puzzles, and more.

Discovery School

Educator's Reference Desk
This site, created by the Information Institute of Syracuse, contains a resource collection, lesson plans and a question archive.   The site also provides access to the GEM (The Gateway to Educational Materials) and the ERIC databases.   Each question in the archive contains both article abstracts for the ERIC database and a collection of Internet sites which may be of use in gathering information about the question.  Lesson plans are searchable by subject and keyword and the resource collection is organized by subject as well.

GEM- Gateway to Educational Materials
The Gateway contains a collection of links and descriptions of educational resources available from many government, non-profit and commercial web sites.   Resources include lesson plans, activities, primary sources, studies, articles, and more.   The catalog is searchable by keyword and subject; users are able to refine searches by subject, type of resource, grade level, keywords, and more.   The Teacher Tool kit from the National Education Association offers free tools such as class rosters, IEP tools, curriculum standards, and professional development opportunities.

Marco Polo
Marco Polo’s seven web sites provide subject-specific, standards-based, online educational content for K-12 teachers and students.   Marco Polo's home page includes teacher resources and professional development sections.   A search engine allows the user to search all Marco Polo sites by keyword, with subject and grade level limiting functions. The teacher resources section highlights new lesson plans on the Marco Polo sites, provides a calendar of historic events with links to corresponding lessons, and also provides indexes of student materials and lesson plans. The professional development section offers free, downloadable professional development resources.

New York Times Learning Network
This site provides a new, full text article and a related lesson plan every weekday.  The articles are selected for grades 3-12, with lesson plans available for grades 6-12. The selections are age appropriate current events articles and include supporting activities from the site such as news quizzes, crossword puzzles and the word of the day.   Other interactive features for students include "Ask a Reporter" questions, letters to the editor submissions and "Science Q&A".   A teachers' section includes a lesson plan archive, a news snapshot of the day, educational news, and a web explorer that provides a guided tour of sites related to current topics in the news.

PBS Teacher Source
Organized by subject areas such as arts and literature, preK-2, and library media, PBS Teacher Source offers lesson plans, online activities, and professional development opportunities.  Resources include recommended books and links, media literacy information, activities, and monthly interdisciplinary activities.  The site also allows the user to personalize materials and provides local educational information and a free weekly electronic newsletter.   The site is searchable by keyword, subject, and grade level.  Free technology tutorials are offered as well as schedules and information about PBS programs.
