Databases Available Onsite at the Electronic Reference Station
The Electronic Reference Station provides access to databases in a variety of formats, including CD-ROM and online. There are over 300 databases available via vendors such as EBSCOhost, InfoTrac, OCLC FirstSearch, and ProQuest. Internet addresses are provided below for databases that have an alternative version available on the Web free of charge. Databases may be added or deleted without notice. AMED (Allied and Complementary Medicine Database) (Provided by the Health Care Information Service of the British Library.) Coverage begins in 1979 for some titles. An alternative medicine database including information on complementary medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, podiatry, palliative care, and more. America: History and Life (1964+) Abstracts of articles from journals, book reviews and dissertations which cover the history and culture of the U.S. and Canada, from prehistoric times to the present. Available online.
American Civil War Reference Library Subject chapters offer viewpoints, definitions, chronological coverage of battles, further reading and sidebars highlighting individuals, statistics and other attention-grabbing information. Anthropology Plus (current) Anthropology Plus contains two major anthropology indexes, from the late 1800s to the present, in the fields of social, cultural, physical, biological, and linguistic anthropology; ethnology, archaeology, folklore, and material culture; and interdisciplinary studies. AnthroSource AnthroSource contains a retrospective archive of peer-reviewed journals, newsletters, and bulletins published by the American Anthropological Association - over 100 years of research across approximately 31 publications. Available online.

Big Online America Contains information on the largest private and public foundations, grants from US government agencies, and Canadian foundations, Canadian government grants, and Canadian corporate donors. BioOne BioOne is full-text bioscience research journal database created by a collaboration between scientific societies, libraries, academe and the private sector. Most of BioOne's titles are published by small societies and non-commercial publishers and contain information on the biological, ecological and environmental sciences. Available online.

Business Plans (volumes 5-10) A collection of actual business plans compiled by entrepreneurs seeking funding for small businesses throughout North America. Each volume presents approximately 25 sample plans taken from businesses in the manufacturing, retail, and service industries--only company names and addresses have been changed. Includes a sample business plan template and two fictional plans, a glossary of small business terms, a bibliography of resources, and a directory section containing various listings of interest to entrepreneurs and consultants specializing in small business advice and planning. Civil War: A Newspaper Perspective This database contains the full text of major articles from the New York Herald, Charleston Mercury and the Richmond Enquirer, published between November 1, 1860 and April 15, 1865.
