Friends Group

Thanks to a legislative grant from Assemblyman John J. McEneny, Friends has printed a poster that will soon be in public libraries, historical societies and museums around New York State.

Meetings of the Friends of the NYSNP were held on July 8, August 12, and September 14, 2004.

Friends donated $5,000 to the Project to support the microfilming of New York State newspapers.

Wife, Chimp Run Off? He Wants Chimp Back

Miami, Nov. 5. ? Joe Disviscour doesn't mind that his wife ran off to join the circus, but he wants his chimpanzee back.

The 43-year-old Mr. Disviscour filed an answer yesterday to a divorce suit filed by his wife, Betty, 38. He aid she took his pet chimp, Mr. Duffy, and joined the Storybook Shows of Wisconsin last summer for $150 a month.

"That's not a suitable life for a chimp," Mr. Disviscour said. "I'm concerned for his future happiness. I heard that she was doing 12 shows a day with Mr. Duffy and he was very tired."

Mr. Disviscour said he trained Mr. Duffy to eat spaghetti with a fork, wear a tuxedo and smoke cigarets [sic]. He asked for custody of the chimp but said his wife could have visiting privileges.
