Over several months, Fred flattened items and removed fasteners to prevent damage to the paper. He also noted if there were items in the collection that couldn't be unrolled or unfolded, if items were brittle or burned or dirty, if any items had mold or water damage or were torn. Eventually, all the materials were housed in lignin-free folders, envelopes and/or boxes and labeled. The labels then were compiled into a box-and-folder list. You are welcome to use this rich collection Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm in the reading room on the third floor of the Cultural Education Center on Madison Avenue in Albany, N.Y. |
