On Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, librarians Paul Mercer and Dick Andress. along with Craig Williams of the State Museum, picked up the records and books Fred Abele had used in his research on railroads and other forms of mass transportation.
The materials were put in cubic-foot Paige boxes to protect them from dirt and damage. The boxes were labeled with words or phrases - photographs, timetables, books - to provide some access. Note the pile of photograph albums in the upper right-hand corner of the slide.
