Political, social, economic, and demographic forces at work in today's world have increased the need for current and comprehensive public policies for preventing and controlling infectious diseases on a worldwide basis. Meanwhile, rapid advances in medicine and technology have magnified the difficulty of establishing policies that reflect current science as well as current public health and medical practices.
CIDRAP's mission is to reduce illness and death from infectious diseases by conducting original, interdisciplinary research and by facilitating public policy refinement and the adoption of science-based best practices among professionals and the public. It focuses on timely and emerging issues of greatest significance to public health and strives to create solutions targeted for greatest impact.
