Limited Parking on Saturday, October 6,
Due to the Race for the Cure

If you will be visiting the New York State Library on Saturday, October 6, 2018, please be aware that the Susan G. Komen Northeastern New York Race For The CureĀ® is taking place in downtown Albany during the morning. The race is scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m. in front of the Cultural Education Center (CEC) on Madison Avenue, which is where the Library is located.

Although the Library will be open its usual hours on Saturday, there will be traffic and parking issues due to the race. Pedestrian access will be permitted along Madison Avenue, and the public will be able to enter the Cultural Education Center at the Madison Avenue entrance; however, we have been informed that:

  • There will be no parking along Madison Avenue Saturday morning.
  • Madison Avenue, the executive parking lot, the Cathedral parking lot, and the West (bus) parking lot will close for vehicular access at 7:00 a.m.  Saturday morning. Madison Avenue will be closed from Eagle to Washington Park.

Madison Avenue is anticipated to reopen to vehicular traffic by 1 p.m.
