NYS Library Catalog and Digital Collections - Status Updates
NYSL Catalog to be upgraded to newer version
Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Full access to the Library's digital collections has been restored. In order to have access, we needed to go back one version in our upgrade. Excelsior looks a bit different then before, but it still has the same functionality.
Monday, August 30, 2010: Upgrade completed, but...
The upgrade was completed last week and the updated catalog interface is available; however, there are some problems with our electronic documents. Some links to these documents are working but others are not.
August 11, 2010: Upgrade rescheduled for August 24 and 26
To make it easier to search our collections, the New York State Library will be upgrading to a newer version of Sirsi, our catalog software. Originally scheduled for earlier this month, the upgrade had to be postponed. It has now been rescheduled, and we anticipate that the catalog will be unavailable on the following days:
- all day on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, while we transition to the new software, and
- part of the day on Thursday, August 26 , while we update the catalog's web interface.
Libraries: If you use NYSILL to make interlibrary loan requests, please wait until Wednesday or Friday to put in new requests.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
August 5, 2010: Upgrade temporarily postponed
The New York State Library has postponed the catalog upgrade that was scheduled for Thursday, August 5. The catalog is therefore available for use as usual today.
Once the upgrade has been rescheduled, we will post a the new date. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change in the schedule.
August 2, 2010: Catalog upgrade scheduled
To make it easier to search our collections, the New York State Library will be upgrading to a newer version of Sirsi, our catalog software. Because of this, the catalog will be unavailable:
- all day on Thursday, August 5, 2010, while we transition to the new software, and
- part of the day on Tuesday, August 10, while we update the catalog's web interface.
July 9, 2010 - Update:
The Digital Collections are once again available, but they must be accessed through the catalog (scroll down through the item's record and click on the link listed for "Electronic Access") or through Hyperion, the Digital Collections interface.
Links embedded in web pages such as Digital Historical Documents or NYS Regents Exams are currently just going to the main catalog page.
We are working to correct the problem and apologize for the inconvenience.
July 2, 2010 - Update:
The Digital Collections are still unavailable. We are working with the vendor to resolve a problem. We apologize for the inconvenience.
June 25, 2010 (4:00 p.m.) - Update
The NYSL catalog is once again available.
However, work with the Digital Collections is still ongoing, and those documents are still unavailable.
June 23, 2010 - Catalog will be down for maintenance
Excelsior, the New York State Library/Archives/Museum Catalog and the State Library's Digital Collections, will be unavailable from 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23 through 5 p.m. on Friday, June 25 for system maintenance. (The catalog will be moved to a new server.)
