2003-2004 Library Aid Charts
Estimated Figures Based on Legislative Action

The Division of Library Development, New York State Library, New York State Education Department prepared these library aid charts in order to project estimated aid payments of 2003-2004 State aid for libraries.

Due to special provisions in the 2003-2004 State budget passed by the Executive and Legislature, the allocation of library aid for 2003-2004 was the same as for 2002-2003. No library or program was allocated less library aid in 2003-2004 than the amount allocated in 2002-2003.

Library aid is allocated based on formulas in Education Law with the exception of the interinstitutional (county jail) program which is an annual $175,000 appropriation. Some aid formulas include per capita or per student factors. The 2003-2004 Education Law amounts are based on the 2000 decennial census.

The amounts in these charts do not include the $1.7 million appropriated by the Executive and the Legislature for The New York Public Library services to the City University of New York or $850,000 for NYPL's Science, Industry and Business Library for 2003-2004.
