The North Shore Public Library is the only tax-supported institution which offers services to every member of our community from preschooler to senior citizen. Slightly more than three percent of the total of your property taxes supports the library.

Voters will go to the polls on April 8th for the annual library budget vote and trustee election.

The seat currently held by trustee Richard Johannesen will be on this year’s ballot.

The proposed budget for fiscal year 2003/2004 maintains the library’s status of having one of the lowest tax rates among all of Brookhaven’s libraries.

The proposed tax rate translates to an annual cost for library services of approximately $230 per year for a $200,000 home in our community.
