Scholarship Opportunities for Entering MLS or MSIS Degree Students

Making It REAL! Recruitment, Education, And Learning: Creating a New Generation of Librarians to Serve All New Yorkers is a New York State Library statewide recruitment grant project funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The purpose of this project is to recruit and educate forty-four new librarians in such a way that diversity in the profession will be enhanced.

Through Teaching Libraries, recipients will receive scholarships, as well as on-the-job training, mentoring, professional development opportunities, and work experience within the Teaching Library. Scholarship funds, ranging from $5,000 to $25,000, will be available beginning January 2005. [NOTE: All scholarship funds have been awarded as of January 2006.]

TEACHING LIBRARY SCHOLARSHIP OBJECTIVES

MLS degree candidates will receive scholarships with the following purposes:
