New York State Libraries and Other Repositories Affected by Flooding
Broome County (Four County Library System)
- Town of Deposit: The Town of Deposit suffered damage to records. The Town is currently arranging
to have the records picked up for salvage work.
- Deposit Free Library: They had a few inches of flood water in their library and the bottoms of
books on the bottom shelves got wet. They threw out a few hundred books and are air drying the remaining wet material.
Delaware County (Four County Library System)
- Town of Hancock: The Town of Hancock suffered damage to records. The Town is currently arranging
to have the records picked up for salvage work.
- Sidney Memorial Public Library: The Sidney Memorial Public Library suffered from flooded basement.
The library will not be up and functioning for another week. The basement was primarily storage so the library

- Village of Walton: The Village of Walton sustained extensive record damage.
- Walton Historical Society: The Walton Historical Society has reported damage to a Lyman Ogden
painting. The painting was on loan to the Ogden Library at the time of the flood and the bottom of the painting
was submerged in water. Currently the painting has been brought to the Eells House.
- William B. Ogden (Walton) Library: The Walton library suffered flood damage to virtually all
of the collections stored on the first level. Most of the children and young adult literature and adult non-fiction
literature had to be disposed of. Also lost was a large portion of the history collection and all of their microfilmed
newspapers. The library lost several computers during the flood as well. Clean up efforts were scheduled to begin

Herkimer County (Mid-York Library System)
- Town of Mohawk: The Town of Mohawk has reported damage to their records. The extent of the damage
is still unknown.
Montgomery County (Mohawk Valley Library System)
- Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery: The Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery suffered basement
flooding and extensive damage to their new addition. The library staff was able to save a significant portion of
the materials stored in the basement. Newspaper originals, ledgers of a local bank, paintings, prints, posters,
copies of Dutch masters, and spare frames were lost in the flood. The library will be closed for one week or more.

- Town / Village of Canajoharie: The Town of Canajoharie has reported that records were damaged
by flood waters. The extent of the damage to the records has not been made clear. Several town and village offices
were also affected by the flood. Offices sustained damages and a number of computers were lost.
- Fort Plain Free Library: The Fort Plain Free library, located on Willet and River Streets, suffered
from basement flooding. The basement has currently been pumped dry and there has been no loss of materials. The
library is closed.
- Village of Fort Plain: The Village of Fort Plain has reported damage to their records. The extent
of the damage is still unknown.
Otsego County (Four County Library System)
- St. Mathews Church: St. Mathews Church in Unadilla has reported that records are wet from flooding.
On July 3 the church was trying to salvage the documents by freezing them.
- Village of Unadilla: The Village of Unadilla's records sustained some damage from flooding. Currently
the village is arranging to have the records picked up for salvage work.
Sullivan County (Ramapo Catskill Library System)
Roscoe Free Library: The Roscoe Free Library had 5 feet of water inside on Wednesday, June 28.
The library lost all of its children's books but saved the top two shelves of the adult sections, of fiction, non
