West Nyack Free Library (Rockland Co.)

The West Nyack Free Library received $7,537 from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to improve the energy efficiency of the library’s heating and air conditioning systems. New A/C units were installed to target the circulation office, Director’s office and the upper level community room so that air would no longer be wasted over an excessive area of the building. Old, inefficient boiler units were replaced and pipes were cleaned and flushed to improve the functionality of new units. Finally, the old thermostat was replaced with a modern unit, which enables the library to better control interior temperatures. Overall, these improvements dramatically improve the library environment for staff and patrons, and reduce inefficiencies that lead to wasted energy.
