Sullivan Free Library (Madison Co.)

The Sullivan Free Library received $8,618 from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to fund the modification of existing doors to provide greater accessibility.  A former bank building was purchased by the library to provide library services, and all existing doors are being modified to be accessible to the physically handicapped.  The new library building will allow the library to expand both in size and in the nature of programs provided, and will include separate spaces for children and adults, a common circulation desk, quiet reading areas, and space for the village’s historian’s office.  In addition, there will be a community room with technology for presentations and computer access, a private meeting room, a drive-up book drop, and a library store.  With the modified doors, the library will be accessible to all.
