Stone Ridge Public Library (Ulster Co.)

The Stone Ridge Library District received $18,174 from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to preserve the 1798 stone building that houses the main part of the library.  The walls, made of local stone, had been shifting and required a stabilization project.  With the addition of external braces and steel rods in the attic, the library will be more stable and secure.  This will allow two rooms on the second floor that had been previously abandoned to be used again.  The outside braces are able to be removed at a future date when the walls are permanently stabilized.
