Rye Free Reading Room (Westchester Co.)
The Rye Free Reading Room received $42,458 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the reconstruction of existing space to create a new public computer and technology center. The historic building, which was constructed in 1913, did not have adequate facilities to accommodate the increasing demand for technology. The library now provides public access to 12 new computers (in addition to the 6 already owned by the library) accompanying equipment, such as shared printers, a large computer-based video display system, and adequate space for hands-on computer literacy training, resume, and job-search assistance.
