Putnam Valley Free Library (Putnam Co.)
The Putnam Valley Free Library received $5,600 from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program for the replacement of windows and an oil boiler. The library decided to make several improvements to increase the overall energy efficiency of the building. The old, inefficient windows allowed for energy loss through the glass panes and gaps in the frames, and were replaced with new, energy efficient windows with thermal breaks, which save energy and assist with interior temperature maintenance. Additionally, the old boiler was replaced with a new, and more reliable, energy efficient model.
