James Prendergast Library Association (Chautauqua Co.)
The James Prendergast Library Association received $210,923 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the installation of computer cables and electrical lines, and the removal and replacement of carpeting in the library. The library needed to upgrade the computer services in its Main Reading Room and Children’s Room. Before undertaking the installation of necessary wiring and cables, the library had to undergo asbestos abatement under the carpet and tiles in the rooms to ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff. By installing new wiring and cables through the floor of the 1962 building and 1968 addition, the library is able to ensure computer accessibility to more patrons, and accommodate patrons with laptops who use the library’s facilities.
