Poland Public Library (Herkimer Co.)
The Poland Public Library received funds from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to replace its 27-year-old heating system and to realign and replace the library’s fluorescent lights. The heating system was replaced with a larger, more efficient Thermopride furnace, upgrading its energy efficiency from 76% to 87%. Installation of this new furnace saves the Poland Public Library in fuel oil consumption and provides the additional necessary heat in the basement area during cold weather months. The realignment and replacement of 20 new fluorescent lights has also made the building more energy efficient and has created better and brighter lighting conditions for patrons and staff.
