Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library (Nassau Co.)
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library received $25,329 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the construction of a new circulation and information center. The original circulation desk was 15 years old, and while it served the functions necessary for 1993, it could no longer support the modern technological requirements necessary for current library operations. The newly constructed circulation and information center includes a self-service kiosk; spaces for public access computers; a window dedicated to library card registration; and shelving for reserve materials, all of which meet the demands of modern library patrons. Additionally, the new center has been designed for improved accessibility and now exceeds current ADA compliance requirements. These improvements provide the library with the ability to continue to efficiently and effectively meet the needs of its busy constituency.
