Plainedge Public Library (Nassau County)
The Plainedge Public Library received $33,335 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program to replace the library boiler. The previous boiler was installed in 1968 and only provided limited heating. Hot water was unavailable as the boiler deteriorated and replacement parts were no longer made. The new boiler will save on energy costs and has allowed for greater control over the temperature. This has led to cleaner air and a more comfortable library.
