The New York Public Library - Battery Park City Branch (New York Co.)
The New York Public Library received $710,244 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the construction of a new 10,400 square foot branch library in an existing storefront in the Battery Park neighborhood. Previously patrons had who lived or worked in the Battery Park area had to travel to other neighborhoods to visit the New York Public Library. This new branch will provide improved library services to this community by increasing accessibility. Additionally, the new branch will be constructed of with sustainable materials and energy efficient cooling, heating and lighting systems in line with LEED standards, setting the branch as an example of environmentally friendly construction and practices for other area business.
