Merrick Library, Nassau County

The Merrick Library, Nassau County, housed since 1962 in a 15,000 square foot, multi-level building without full handicapped accessibility, successfully passed a referendum in the amount of $10 million for a new library building on April 24, 2002. State public library construction aid was used to help pay for the installation of six automatic doors which make the two entrances to the new building fully accessible as well as easier for all adults and children carrying books and materials to enter and exit.
