Malverne Public Library (Nassau Co.)

The Malverne Public Library received $20,017 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction program for the renovation of the front and rear entrance and the insulation of the first floor deck and HVAC ducts. Subsequent to the construction of a new roof during a previous project, it was noticed that the columns connected to the roof were never properly sealed. Water from melting snow had dripped and damaged the interior of these columns. There was also damage to the cement at the base of the columns, as well as the fascia and trim around the entrances. By correcting these issues, further damage can be avoided, and the improvements made in previous projects will be better preserved. The library also hopes to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy costs by properly insulating the lower decks around the HVAC system. With the new insulation, the library is able to enjoy its new rooms without concern over energy inefficiencies and unstable temperatures.
