Haverstraw King's Daughters Public Library (Rockland Co.)

The Haverstraw King's Daughters Public Library received $115,958 from the $14 million Public Library Construction Grant Program for a major interior renovation project.  The project included a new floor plan, upgrades to the electrical system, new lighting fixtures, a security system, new plumbing fixtures, and new furnishings for the circulation, reading, and collection area.  Incorporated into the new floor plan was additional space for a new community room, study space, browsing area, public space, and a public internet space.  The library’s service desks have also combined reference and circulation functions to allow for more efficient use of staff and to provide better public service.  Completion of these interior renovations has made the library more accessible to patrons, more energy efficient, and made it possible to hold programs that are vital to the community.
