Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library (Westchester Co.)
The Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library received $6,500 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the reconstruction of existing space to create a new “quiet reading room.” In 2002, during a general expansion project, one quiet reading room was constructed on the second floor near the adult section of the library. However, as a result of increasing patronage, this room is often booked or busy. This construction project was aimed at building second quiet reading/study area near the children’s area to accommodate the increased demand. The library is now able to offer an additional space for group meetings, tutoring sessions, and quiet study, and this improvement enables the library to better serve its community.
