George F. Johnson Memorial Library (Broome Co.)
The George F. Johnson Memorial Library received funds from the $14 Million Construction Grant Program to add two elevators to the library building. One elevator runs from the ground floor to the basement and the other from the ground floor to a second floor meeting room. Previously, the main floor of the library was overcrowded because it was difficult for those with limited mobility to attend library programs or use resources in the basement or second floor. Stairs made it difficult for children and adults alike to access the entire building. With the new elevators, library space will be used more efficiently and programs and services will be accessible to all.
