Farmingdale Library (Nassau Co.)
The Farmingdale Public Library received funds from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to install bi-parting sliding entrance doors. The project included the removal of the existing entrance doors and installation of automatic sliding glass doors with motion detectors. Replacement of the entranceway doors has improved access to the library for all patrons, especially individuals in wheelchairs, those who require the use of a cane or walker, and parents with strollers. The library’s energy efficiency has also been greatly improved.
