Corfu Free Library (Genesee Co.)
The Corfu Free Library received $9,739 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the construction of a new director’s office and kitchenette, and the relocation of the circulation desk area, including purchase of a new desk and furniture. The library’s community and service area have grown considerably over the last few decades and in 2007, the library decided to embark on a project to expand the library building in order to accommodate community desire. This recent phase of the project was undertaken to improve the staff efficiency and the experience of patrons in the library. The new circulation desk allows multiple library clerks to work at once, and the new kitchenette has been constructed in an area separate from library materials and more conducive to a pleasant work environment for staff. The director’s office, which previously shared public and storage space, has been moved to its own area to improve working conditions for management. With these improvements, Corfu Free Library is able to ensure a pleasant work environment for staff and maintain community enthusiasm and involvement.
