Clarence Public Library (Erie Co.)

The Clarence Public Library received $3,104 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the installation of internal automated doors at front entryway and two bathrooms. The library wanted to improve accessibility for patrons with physical disabilities, the elderly, and adults with infants by installing an automatic door opener on interior entrance doors that would allow patrons to operate the inner doors, without assistance, by pushing a button. The library also improved accessibility in its restrooms by installing swing door operators for two restrooms. With these improvements, the library has increased accessibility, and decreased anxiety that may otherwise have been associated with visiting the library.
