Cheektowaga Public Library, Anna M. Reinstein Memorial Library (Erie Co.)
The Cheektowaga Public Library received $179,029 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the installation of new HVAC, windows, and lighting throughout the Anna M. Reinstein Memorial Library building. The library decided to make several improvements to improve the library’s energy efficiency, as the building had not undergone major renovations since its construction in the 1960’s. The HVAC, which was both unreliable and inefficient, was replaced with a new energy efficient model that will provide consistent temperatures and humidity controls. New energy efficient windows replaced older, single pane windows with broken seals. The new aluminum windows will effectively mitigate fluctuations in temperature and increase overall energy efficiency. Finally, new energy efficient lighting was installed, making bulb replacement easier, and ceiling fans were installed to increase air circulation.
