Canton Free Library (St. Lawrence County)
The Canton Free Library (North Country Library System) began, in the late Fall of 2005, the most extensive renovations to its 1908 building since 1957. Plans include: 1) relocation of the Children's Room to double the size of the current space; 2) expansion of the shelving space for adult and young adult collections and provision of a welcoming adult reading room; 3) and major changes to the library's infrastructure to make it more energy efficient and more accessible to patrons with handicapping conditions. State construction aid was awarded to assist in the payment of energy efficient and handicapped accessible vestibule and lobby doors.
