Baldwin Public Library (Nassau Co.)

The Baldwin Public Library received $2,500 from the $800,000 Public Library Construction Grant Program to install lighting and switches. A new library building was constructed in 2004, and since then, problems with lighting had been identified. The main portion of the library was lit by 38 track lights, which were all controlled by one switch. In this project, the lights were separated among four switches, which allow for greater control over the lighting and will save in energy costs. Additionally, the circulation desk and children’s reference desk were not sufficiently lit, and more lights were added. The addition of the new lights will make the areas brighter and better for employees and patrons.
