Amherst Public Library, Clearfield Branch (Williamsville, Erie Co.)
The Amherst Public Library received $5,699 from the $14 Million Public Library Construction Grant Program for the replacement of 17 windows at the Clearfield branch library. The windows, installed in 1968, were difficult to operate and very inefficient, as the thin glass panes and deteriorating frames lead to heat and cool air loss. The new windows are energy efficient, insulated, and can be easily opened by staff on warm days in place of air-conditioning, which will lead to a reduction in energy costs for the library.
