The New York State Legislature and the Executive provided an appropriation of $14 million in capital funds for public library construction in the 2014-2015 State Budget. Libraries could apply for a construction award that could fund up to 75 percent of a project. The minimum award was $2,500 (for a total project cost of $5,000 with matching funds from the library). The New York State Library has made 182 construction awards to public libraries and public library systems throughout New York State.
