The following New York State legislation was enacted in the year 2002 on the subject of libraries.

Relates to creating the Hudson Area Public Library.

Authorizes the establishment of the Hewlett Harbor library funding district.

Chapter 380 (S.7489A)

Sponsor: Senator Skelos

Authorizes establishment of North Valley Stream, East Franklin Square, North Malverne and North Lynbrook library funding districts in the town of Hempstead, county of Nassau.

Provides for the establishment of the Mill Brook library funding district in the town of Hempstead, county of Nassau.

Sponsor: Assembly Member Glick

Authorizes the Dormitory Authority to construct and finance a new library and research center for the Center for Jewish History, Inc. The project will house the archives and collections of 4 major Jewish institutions including the American Jewish Historical Society, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research.

Authorizes the assessor of Nassau county to exempt a certain parcel owned by the Uniondale public library district from real property taxes.

Sponsor: Assembly Member Gromack

Makes the New City Library eligible for financing by the Dormitory Authority for construction and renovation of facilities.

Authorizes the town of Greenwich to transfer an easement on land designated for park purposes for the installation, operation and maintenance of a septic system for the Greenwich Free Library.

Extends the boundaries of the Thrall Public Library district of Middletown and Wallkill.

Creates the Plattekill library district in a portion of the town of Plattekill.
