Instructions for Finding Information in the "Visit the State Library's Web Site" Section of the Summer 2004 Issue:

  1. Get there faster. Find out about traffic delays, construction, and other travel factors from the NYS Travel Information Gateway.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Government - New York State. Next, find New York State Government Web Sites and Publications, and follow this link. This will give you a list of New York State Agency Web Sites, so look under T and find the Department of Transportation.

  2. Brush up on jury duty. Check out the NYS Unified Court System's Juror Information Web Site.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Law. Next, find New York State Unified Court System and follow this link. Click the link for Jurors and this will take you to Juror Information.

  3. Be an informed consumer. Read hundreds of federal consumer publications at the Federal Citizen Information Center Web site.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Government - Federal. Next, find Federal Information - Guides/Databases, and follow the link to Federal Information Center (FIC) Internet site. The Federal Information Center offers information on publications, which you may access by selecting the link on the left hand side of the page.

  4. Fight off the flu. Find out the latest about the influenza situation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Health and Medicine. From here, click on Federal Government, and find the Centers for Disease Control. This link will take you right to the CDC web site.
