Instructions for Finding Information
in the "Visit the State Library's Web Site" Section of the Spring 2004 Issue:

  1. Hit the road. Learn about the 174-mile NYS Canalway Trail system.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select New York State. Next, find New York State, the official link to the governor's home page. From there find the Visiting In tab and select Destinations. This will give you a list of destinations including the New York State Canalway Trail System.

  2. Save your sight. Get tips from the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Eye Institute.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Health and Medicine. From here, click on Federal Government, and find the National Institutes of Health (NIH) web site. Click on the Institutes tab and then find the National Eye Institute.

  3. Celebrate the past. Check out the Library of Congress "Today in History" Web site.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Libraries. Next, find the link to the Library of Congress home page under Libraries in Other States and Worldwide. This will take you to the Library of Congress web site where you will find a link to the "Today in History" page.

  4. Protect yourself. The NYS Department of Law has advice on fighting identify theft.

    Go to Electronic Resources and click on Internet Bibliographies. From this list, select Government - New York State. Next, find New York State, the official link to the governor's home page. Find the Government Agencies In tab and select State Government. This will provide you with a list of government agencies, including the Office of the Attorney General. Follow this link to the Attorney General's web site where you will find an item on preventing identity theft in the News to Use section.
