November's exhibit featured selected books from the donation of the Holland Society of New York to the New York State Library.

On July 19, 2017, the State Library received a delivery of 8 pallets with over 3,000 genealogy and local history books and journals from the Holland Society of New York Library.

The books in this exhibit were primarily histories, mostly from New York State. The collection (and exhibit) also includes books on the Holland Society and the Society of Daughters of Holland Dames, as well as books on old and new Dutch history.

Local histories in this collection cover the state of New York, and the neighboring states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The many genealogies in this collection were not featured in the exhibit as they are frequently used on site, and we wanted them to remain available to researchers.

The items featured in the cases around the elevator lobby illustrated the many items in the Ancestry Library Edition and FamilySearch which can be used to study history and research genealogy. These items include church records from New York City and Germany, Pension Application files for the Revolutionary War, college yearbooks, New England Seamen's Identification cards and more.
